Damals gab es ein Leuchtfeuer, das sämtliche Horizonte erhellte. Europa, Weltfrieden, Demokratie. Meine Eltern glaubten, dass sich alles zum Guten wenden würde. Dass die Epoche von Weltkrieg und Wettrüsten zu Ende sei und sie in einer bessere Zukunft aufbrächen. Aber bald nach der Jahrtausendwende haben sie aufgehört, davon zu sprechen. Sie sind regelrecht verstummt.
